You would like to walk between four white buildings that were labeled from A to D. Each building was five stories high with a navy color roof that connected to each other with silver bridges that were located on the third floor. The windows of the buildings have two functional navy window shutters; under each window, they have a navy rectangle flower pot with the school crest on it that planted with city flower blue hydrangea. At building B where the elementary, Angel Ja'Micniles is Angela little brother had entered his second grade with his new neighbor Lina the sister of Alexander and Melano Ja'Beacher. He sat on a round table with three other seven years old kids.
Many of us enjoy fast food restaurants because they are quick, cheap and the food is appeasing to our taste buds. It would be very hard for many of us to turn down junk food for veggies. In the article, How Junk Food Can End Obesity, David H. Freedman presents, “Demonizing processed food may be dooming many to obesity and disease. Could embracing the drive-thru make us all healthier?” Freedman believes in the process of making prepackaged foods healthier.
Like all seven years old children, I was greedy about delicious foods. I declared that I can eat them all, and it was an act of sheer folly. My parents always emphasize “Never leave behind food.” Actually, eating fried rice was really delightful, but I cannot forget mom’s staring eyes

Not long ago, a close friend of mine, Sierra, invited me to go to a retro ice cream parlor in Oakland with her family. In fact, her family has been going to this creamery since she was three years old. Sierra’s family would drive out to Oakland to go to the famous Fentons Creamery once a year. Opened in 1894, Fentons is a family-owned world famous establishment ("Fentons Creamery and Restaurant”). Stepping into the parlor was like a blast from the past; I was instantly hypnotized by the artisans making the ice cream from scratch.
The addictive food that is sold by supermarkets is made to appeal to the consumers’ taste and make them addicted to it. In Michael Moss’ “The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food,” he mentions that the potato chip is a snack that provides a feeling of pleasure as well as a rewarding sensation in the brain through its coating of salt and fat (490). Small details food companies put in the food make a difference in the taste, which tends to attract more consumers without them aware of how they are being addicted to the food. In food companies’ perspective, the engineering of food to add more flavor and attract more consumers has no issue since it is how companies make their profits. Stephen Sanger, head of General Mills and the Yoplait brand, was able to produce $500 million in revenue from a new dessert that originated from the yogurt since it maintains a nutritive image with consumers (Moss 475-476).
“Lucius!” Ina May’s voice took on a tone of a mother scolding her child. Despite her scolding tone, she was silently wishing that Mr. Hobbs, her boss, were present. Conversely, she was thankful that Mr. Ball, the new salesman, hadn’t returned from his early morning appointment yet. Lucius cracked a slight smile, he had rattled Ina May already, and he was going to revel.

Have you ever wondered what today’s world would be like without candy? In the first article, the author talked about how candy was invented, the “Golden Age”, and how when candy was first invented it was expensive and hard to find. In the second article the author talks about nutrition facts, how much sugar is in foods, and it gave some ideas on how to not eat so much sugar. The two articles present many differences, and many similarities on how americans have been influenced by sugar. Candy has become very very cheap compared to the 1800’s.
People have many fundamental rights such as the right to free speech, the right to rebel, and the right to have a say in their government. However, governments do not always protect or respect those rights as they should. 1984 addresses these issues in a dystopian world where the government has total control. In 1984 by Orwell, the totalitarian regime of Oceania distorts Winston's morals and beliefs through visual reminders of power, thereby conveying the theme of corrupt governments manipulating people to believe their propaganda through total control.
What makes food and memory so complex is the inability to separate the two. Because of the social norms of Fisher’s childhood, she grew up with set family roles, little say in the household, and a “speak when spoken” to mentality. Ultimately, this structure helped pave the way for her idealogical breakthrough. As Fisher describes throughout her memoir, The Gastronomical Me, what makes food memories so complicated is not the taste of the food, rather the memories and the people with whom these meals are shared with. Through these mealtime experiences, Fisher develops her own philosophies, adopting a newer generation’s ideals regarding the power a meal holds and the people that participate.
