A jazz musician who changed the world Who was the most outstanding jazz musician of all time? Louis Armstrong defined what it was like to play jazz. His outstanding skills still dominate in today's music. Louis Armstrong is considered to have some of the best pieces of his time. If not for Louis Armstrong then the world of jazz would nearly be not as good if he was never born. This is all of Louis Armstrong's childhood, significance, and personal background. Louis Armstrong had a rough childhood growing up. Louis Armstrong's date of birth is August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana. SDPB says, "Armstrong is the most important American musical figure of the 20th century. His influence is incalculable and extends beyond nearly a century of jazz to include everyone from Leonard Bernstein to the Rolling stones." He is very very famous for being a jazz artist. If he did not shoot his stepfather's pistol and gone to the colored waif home for boys, he never would have learned to play music. SDPB says that “In the summer of 1922, Oliver invited Armstrong to join his creole jazz band in Chicago, which had replaced New Orleans as the epicenter of the jazz world.” If not for Armstrong's idol Oliver King, Louis Armstrong's career would never have started. A famous quote from Louis Armstrong is “If I don’t practice for a day I know it but if I don’t practice for two days the critics know it.” This is all of Louis Armstrong's significance of his life. Some of the most important things that I learned about Louis Armstrong are. First, he changed the world of jazz forever. His legacy is turning jazz into art and making jazz popular. What surprised me the most about this person is that even white folks wanted to go and see him sing. Studying this person affected my life is his admiration for making music. It has introduced me to how black people were treated back then. The connection that I can make to my own life is my love for music. Louis Armstrong improved my life by introducing me to a whole new world of music other than rap and country
