During the 1848 uprising, Louis-Napoleon became president. There were many ways that Louis-Napoleon ruled France, and some liberals disapproved of the way he did. In 1848, there were many ethnic uprisings throughout Europe. During these uprisings, Louis-Napoleon had a tight rein on government, he wanted a parliament and to have self-government. Another reason the liberals disapproved of the way Louis-Napoleon ruled was because he promised a lot of things, and many people didn 't think that he would keep those promises.
