Section One: Luis Alfredo Garavito, of Colombia, definitely earned his nickname “the Beast,” after he admitted to the slaughter of 140 young boys; however, there are many indications that the actual number of murders is closer to 300. From 1994-1999, Garavito indulged in a killing spree. He used food, cash, and gifts in order to lure his young victims to him, all of which were boys between the ages of eight and sixteen. In addition, he would occasionally dress as a monk or street vendor in order to create the illusion that the kids were in a safe environment, before persuading them to go on a walk. His crimes were premeditated in terms of his process, but he never planned ahead of time who his next victim would be. In order to conduct his crimes without getting arrested, Garavito enticed young boys who lived on the streets to go a private walk with him. He promised presents, food, alcohol, and money to the innocent children in exchange for their company. Once isolated in a hidden area, the boys were tortured, raped, and killed, whether it be that they were stabbed to death, decapitated, or had their throats cut. He then proceeded to dismember their bodies, burry them, and record where the crime was committed. He is a ruthless con artist, who exhibits a lack of conscious for wrongdoings, as evident by his willingness to draw maps on his the walls of his prison cell, in an attempt to help authorities find the corpses of children he killed. Not only would this lesson his prison sentence, it would also showcase his skills and enlarge his ego. Garavito was reckless and easily irritable, as well. For him murder was a challenge because he had to do it without getting caught, this is a common characteristic of a person who has ASPD. In addition, he displayed a lack fear for the consequences of breaking the law at a very young age. As he became older, his ability to act and take on another character was perfected. This helped him lie and gain the trust of his
