When trying to understand the details that produce any final result, the truth of the matter can be messy, complicated, and sometimes unclear. In most cases, there is not any one thing that caused a downward spiral or an upward shot, but rather a sequence of events, a plethora of circumstances, and a wide variety of people.
Evidently everything that took place at Willowbrook was extremely unethical all around. All ten of the principles in the ATRA code of ethics were violated. Willowbrook is a perfect example of how ethics change over time. Even though today you hear stories about abuse and neglect that takes place in nursing homes this type of treatment and this amount of widespread neglect would never happen today. Today there are strict protocols and guidelines in every facility that as a professional you are required to follow.

As administrators, we are charged with the overwhelming task of not only educating students and empowering staff but making decisions that will forever impact the lives of children. Every decision I make is subject to scrutiny from multiple parties. That means that I have to make ethical decisions not just when I’m at work, but every second of the day. Being an administrator isn’t a job that you can simply work during school hours.
Core Values and Ethical Principles The six core values recognized by the NASW Code of Ethics are: service, social justice, dignity and worth of person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence (NASW, 2008). These values are defined and expanded upon, and are then listed as ethical principles. Several of these principles apply to this case.
He may have caught feelings for her first when he saw her at lunch because she was so different from the rest and really stood out. The fourth reason why non-conformity is the theme of this story is that she isn’t afraid to act herself. One example of this is the ukelele during lunch. Paul Abramson is a psychology professor at UCLA. There he teaches classes on Human Sexuality and Sex & The Law. He has written several books on romance, sexuality, and relationships. In his 2007 article “The Right to Romance: Why Universities Shouldn’t Prohibit Relations Between Teachers and Students” he argues for student/teacher relationships. He believes it is a restriction of rights and in his article he uses several appeals to validate his argument.
This article on ethics was really interesting and a dilemma that is prevalent within criminal justice. In the article Dr. Steven Davis recognized that students cheating in high school increased by 20% in the 1940 to 75% today. Davis stated, "If students lack ethics in high school and college, then there should be little surprise that they lack ethics in their careers. (2008). " This observation by Davis holds some value, because individuals that is willing to cheat to get ahead, definitely has no problem crossing ethical lines, because in their mind the wrong is acceptable, just as it was when they cheated.
While in seventh grade, she made a strong relationship with her English teacher. When Charlotte enters high school, she begins focusing on her self-image. As she enters her English class she notices that Miss Hancock is her teacher yet again. The students treated her quite badly, but Charlotte wasn’t about to stand up for her. Standing up for a teacher could mean that she would lose any chance of getting the boyfriend she wanted, or even making friends.
2. An academically and socially struggling 11-year-old female student, Irina, comes to speak with the school counselor, Mrs. Moon, about her increasing awareness of herself as lesbian. Irina’s parents are conservative Catholics and the culture of the school community is likewise politically conservative. Planning is transforming socially, but to achieve change it has to bring together, politicians, planners, and residents (Sandercock, 2004). Citizen’s opinions and rights should be taken into consideration. It is the number one rule in the planning process for participants. It says, “recognize the rights of citizens to participate in planning decisions” (Ethical, n.d.). Cities cannot progress unless they change their ways of doing things.
In the movie Crimson Tide, we look to the question ethical decisions, and what someone would do when thrown into a situation that made them question themselves, and who they serve for. In this example, when serving in the United States Military, once a solider is given orders, that solider must follow the orders out and not to question them. The trust between the solider and the higher command giving orders is almost based on blind faith. The solider relies on the higher commands decision of protecting democracy, even if someone, or a lot of people are killed. Is it an ethical decision to follow a commander’s order even if it means killing mass numbers of innocent civilians?
My Personal Code of Ethics as an Education Leader As an educator, and conceivable future educational leader, my personal code of ethics is one that envelops uprightness, correspondence, respect, imparted objectives, sympathy, open-mindedness, and confidentiality. A leader recognizes what is correct and utilizes it to make the best decision paying little mind to personal danger. I will utilize this personal code of ethics when settling on decisions including ethical issues and to guide my profession.
