At a very young age I was told, “Opportunities are not handed to you. You must work for them.” Throughout my college career, I suffered through some tough times, but not once did I think about quitting. Taking control of the situations you are thrown into is what defines each individual. I look for a program that will instruct me in managerial strategies, employee communication, and organizational structuring and I am a firm believer that an M.S. in Organizational Leadership is one of the best and diverse programs in New York City. Looking at everything through the lens of patience and assiduity is what brought me to attain my Bachelor of Arts degree from the City College of New York, and I am hopeful it will do the same at Manhattan College. …show more content…

in Organizational Leadership at Manhattan College is one that is specifically designed to shape students and working professionals into leaders of guidance. My ultimate career goal is to work in human resource or education administration. I aspire to work ina university environment as a department director or academic advisor and I truly feel Organizational Leadership at Manhattan College is right for me. One skill I learned from my undergraduate class is taking charge. Balancing out how friendly I am with students could avoid potential problems; for instance being friendly is a means to build confidence and trust, however, too much friendliness may make students think you are not higher in authority. Another important element that has helped not only with students, is learning how to communicate with everyone. During our class, we often spoke about grabbing the attention of students with disabilities or "shy' students. I have become more comfortable with making all individuals feel welcome in addition to putting their needs as my top priority. I recall, when Trump was announced president of the United States and how hard it impacted my peers and I. The way my professor, as a leader in our class handled and devoted her time in addressing the issue was commendable.
