By further enhancing, the Ashley Elementary Dolphin MakerSpace Room students will increase critical thinking skills, problem-solving strategies, digital citizenship understanding, as well as providing an outlet for creativity through S.T.E.A.M activities.
B. Scope of Work During the previous school year (2016-2017) the team members at Ashley Elementary started the process of creating a MakerSpace Room. Our goal for the MakerSpace Room was to increase student problem solving skills, critical thinking, creativity and collaborative teamwork. All staff members have been trained and have the ability to facilitate student learning in our MakerSpace Room. Every student will be provided the opportunity to build, create, experiment, and problem solve in our MakerSpace Room. We want our students to find their genius! Currently, our MakerSpace Room houses sustainable materials such as technological tools, Spheros, robotic items, two Ipads, and various other creative hands-on materials. However, materials are limited, which restricts the amount of time and number of students that can participate at any given time. It is our goal to increase the number of items available for students to use. Our request for funds is to purchase the following items: 10 Chromebooks, 5 iPads, Makey Makey, Goldie Blox, Dot & Dash, Sphero, and Qubits. Makey Makey is an invention kit for the 21st century. This kit allows students to turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. It is an Invention Kit that combines art, engineering, and everything in
