In Maria Viramontes’ Under the Feet of Jesus Estrella is a confused, angry girl who is attempting to figure everything out. While Powell is trying to say that in 18 weeks of school children learn how to admire their teacher as they are also mature as they now also have skill. This then leads to causing the child to improve. For this is how Powell teaches his education as it is different to Montessori teaching. As Montessori said “It is necessary for the teacher to guide the child without letting him feel her presence too much, so that she may be always ready to supply the desired help, but may never be the obstacle between the child and his experience”(Montessori Para 1).
He will become more mature and begin to understand the world around him. Next, Montessori wants the adults to “ ...wait, and always ready to share in both joy and the difficulties which the child experiences”. The teacher should be proud when the child overcomes the obstacles in front of him. They should celebrate with him, encourage him to move on, and learn many other things. When they are in a difficult situation then the teacher should be there helping him and guide him towards the right path.
Through this lesson it has been factored in the interactions that will be involved and the promote of caring relationships and positive self-esteem, the results of the experiences involved and opportunities that are consolidate with the learning, providing new and exciting challenged, all within an activity that is familiar and regular, because this helps with the children’s comfort and promotes a sense of belonging and security (Acara, 2012).
