Martin Luther King Jr. went through a lot of things growing up which helped him later on in his life. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta. His mother was a strict person who would make sure her sons and daughters would be successful in life. His father was a drunk and did not try to make his kids succeed in life. Due to growing up with racism, Christian faith, and peaceful teachings, Martin Luther King Jr. achieved freeing African Americans and helped with the creation of the civil rights act of 1964. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up with Christian faith and peaceful teachings. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian and his mother made him be a good kid and do well in school. “Drawing inspiration from both his Christian faith and peaceful teachings of Mahatma Gandhi” (About Dr. King). Mahatma Gandhi helped Martin be respectful and make him the person he is when he grows up. Martin Luther King went to church to practice his religious beliefs. Martin couldn’t try to stay away from racism and he had to deal with situations about it too. “Though they undoubtedly tried, Martin Jr.’s parents couldn’t shield him completely from racism” (Martin Luther King, Jr.). Martin’s parents tried to keep Martin away from racism so he didn’t have to deal with the horrible things that were going on. Martin was always around racism.
