The goals in our lives, whether they are big or small, are the main things that lead us to success. Without any goals, life on this earth would be like waiting for rain in a drought, pointless and meaningless. Hoping that something good would come out of life but meaningless and pointless, since there is no drive to achieve anything. That is why I have always made it a priority to set goals for myself, even as a high school student. My main goal was to get into a university, such as Marywood, and become the best Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) that I can be. Marywood`s value of empowerment is the ability to reach your full potential and help others with the knowledge acquired through years of schooling and experience (University). when applied to my goal, the access to education is a crucial component to my success. Since Nutrition is an art of science it is very demanding when it comes to education. There are many difficult classes that I have to take such as; Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Anatomy and physiology, and many more Nutrition courses, to achieve my purpose. Of course, my goal cannot be achieved without my educators teaching me the value of empowerment. The power that education has on my profession is crucial due to the fact that if I do not get a good education, then my clients and patients would suffer. I would not be the best Dietitian that I could be thus not achieving any accomplishments that I have set for myself. Respect is honoring the differences and uniqueness that each person has and helping them no matter the differences (University). As a dietitian, I would be working in many hospitals and diverse areas that will incorporate the values of respect. When in a work or school setting achieving a certain goal as a team can pose many problems if respect is not used. Since my goal is to be the best nutritionist; respect is a value that can be useful in the work setting and can help me get closer to success. Showing respect not only to my peers but to the patient in order to understand their situation and treat them the best that I can. The core value of respect is also about maintaining your own personal goals. This can be shown by respecting the goals that I have set for myself and never going back on my word of attaining these goals.
