I read the book Maybe He Just Likes You, this book is about a girl named Mia, the main conflict in the book is she is being sexually harassed. A lot of girls, over boys, are being and have been sexually harassed in schools. They are generally between 7th grade and 12th grade, the girl in my book is in 7th grade and that is the common grade that it starts. It happens a lot in school and yet teachers do not realize it is happening. The teachers in Maybe He Just Likes You do not even realize until near the end of the book what is going on and in real life a lot of times teachers do not notice at all, so the book portrays that well. Above all, the book shows sexual harassment as it is in real life well.

They can involve parents, educate students about it, and stop ignoring it. ASCD states “school systems have a responsibility to ensure that each student can attend school in a safe environment has been made clear by recent court decisions. The Supreme Court reinforced this responsibility when it ruled in February 1992 that students could sue and collect damages for harassment under Title IX of the Education Act of 1972”. This supports my thesis statement because in the book the teachers do not realize what is going on until she tells them at the end that they fixed the problem, showing that they can help end these problems they just need to know.
