Jacqui Alexander explores, examines and expounds on the socio-political forces and machinations which have influenced the legislation in Trinidad and Tobago and The Bahamas, regarding specific sexual identities and manifestations. Primarily using the laws of both countries pertaining to sexual offenses, she discusses how homosexuality and other non-reproductive sexual acts and lifestyles have been outlawed in both nations. In her argument, she outlines how persons of such alternative lifestyles (including herself) have been carefully constructed as deviant, immoral and ultimately destructive to the moral and social fiber of the country. Dhingra and Rodriguez discuss citizenship in this week’s reading, specifically about US citizenship. To they, US citizenship “defines people as politically equal … it downplays other inequalities that should not be ignored.” I appreciate the part where the authors break down the legal citizenship, because I feel that most American citizens underestimate how hard it is to get a US legal citizenship since they never have to worry about it. “US affirms heteronormative family and corporate interests though its immigration policies.” Citizenship was used to define whiteness and alienate people who do not fit the mold.
The definition of Citizenship has now been a citizen who is fully recognised by a state as being a member of the state. They have a legal status within a state, certain rights, and they are expected to perform duties. Citizenship has changed over time because you have to be born in the United States to be gain it. You gain the rights to vote in the U.S.. Which means that you since you born in the U.S. you can vote while people who were not born in the U.S. cannot vote.

The supervisor and I had already printed the papers, bought the official flashcards, and prepared the powerpoint, yet I still could not shake the butterflies in my stomach. From the first moment I arrived, I never imagined the impact and success the program would achieve.
Due to the many news sources available, viewers are able to validate and challenge all views. Although viewers have the option to question if what is on tv or the media is true, many chose to only believe selected perspectives. People who are up to date with the news want to create biases, opinions and views. It is important for viewers to validate these biases. Viewers want to get desired views validated for the reason that other news sources, discussing different viewpoints, could possibly make viewers question what is said on the media and threaten selected biases.
Citizenship in the United States Being a United States (US) citizen means a great deal to me. When I took the first step towards US citizenship, the last thing on my mind was to become a “model citizen” or having the same rights and obligations as a US born citizen. When I obtained my legal resident in the US, which is the first step towards citizenship, the main concern on my mind was “I am no longer on at edge about being deported.” This was a great relief for me, as all of my family resides in the US. This same frame of mind is shared among many people who take the first steps towards citizenship.

In the modern day and age and the Media’s ability to change the perception of how people view things, it is clear that the media has become the most powerful entity on earth with the ability to ultimately control the minds of the masses. I therefore fully agree to a large extent with Malcolm X’s stance on the power of the media. In this Essay I will explore the different forms of media and their ability to change one's mind.
