Sutherland's differential association Edwin Sutherland developed another insightful approach towards understanding what deviance is and it will be engaged in the present analysis. Thus, he argued that people learn the deviant behavior. One of the major sources where this knowledge comes from is a significant other. For example, if one’s best friend is a metalhead, the chances that another person becomes a metalhead are quite high. What is more important is that through various means a person sees that the behavior that is associated with a significant other is more favorable than the one that is being promoted by the society. For example, metal bands often include males who are fit, who sings about brave actions and are quite assertive. According to it, people who present some deviant behavior often tend to neutralize it in one of several ways such is denying responsibility for an action, denying negative consequences that might be caused or existence of victims. In spite of the fact that metalheads is a peaceful group there are several negative stories that are associated with them. For example, in Norway there was a group formed that was named Black Inner Circle that did not only aggressively promoted is love for black metal and paganism, but also was responsible for several church burnings. Of course, it does not mean that every metalhead in the world should be held responsible for those actions. However, one should not dismiss the fact that there were documented instances when metalhead did cause troubles in the society because of their
