Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born February 17, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1978 Michael was just a sophomore in high school, he tried out for the varsity basketball team at his school called Emsley A. Laney High School. He did not make the team, he began working out everyday and improving his skills. The next year rolled around and he was instantly on the varsity team. He had an point average of 20 points or more. 19-4 was his high school's team record after Jordan joined the team, which was their best record ever.
