(March 6th 1475 - February 18th 1564) born in Caprese, Italy Michelangelo was an Italian painter, architect, poet and sculptor. Before his name was known he was just an apprentice to a painter and eventually began studying in sculpture, in the gardens of a wealthy and famous family known as the Medici. He has been remembered as the most famous artist in the time of the Renaissance. Some of his famous works include The Last Judgement (1535-1541), David (1501-1504), and the Pieta (1498-1499). Perhaps the most recognized work of his, is located on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, which took about 4 years to paint.
Michelangelo Buonarroti was born in March 6 1475, by Arezzo, Tuscany. His family had been small bankers, but his father lost that. Instead, he worked government jobs. He got accepted into Lorenzo de'Medici's school for art, and did one painting for Lorenzo. Lorenzo Medici's death brought about a turn around to Michelangelo's life, returning to his father's house and doing some sculpture.

The Renaissance, meaning 'rebirth ', was a significant time in European history that existed between the 14th and the 16th century. It was a time that led to development and change in literature, arts, architecture and philosophy. Michelangelo was very fortunate to live in this period as it brought him great success, especially in art and architecture. Not only did he learn from this new way of thinking, but as he progressed in his career, he also had and still has, a major influence on many other artists, worldwide.

How magnificent would it be to travel across the world and see many great paintings, sculptures, and amazing architect perfected by artist from many different backgrounds and styles during the Italian Renaissance? Of all the beauty and wonders in the world the main thing on my bucket list is to visit the Vatican in Rome and see the absolutely marvelous Sistine Chapel painted by the great Michelangelo. Did you know that Michelangelo did not really even prefer to paint, even though he produced such great art work?
The muscles in his body are so perfectly chiseled as if Michelangelo had Christ setting right in front of him while he worked on the piece. He looks almost has if he has fallen asleep, not been the victim of a violent execution. When the sculpture was finished there were complaints against Michelangelo because of the way he depicted Mary. They said, “She appears rather young, and in fact, that she could not be the mother of a thirty three year old”.

Even though he was very young, he loved the idea of stonecutting, the craft of hammer and chisel. However, when he told his father of his wishes, his father was enraged as he thought that an artist’s life was one full of labor.

This is the village approximately 100 kilometers from the city of Florence, where he spent a large portion of his youth. His first experience with art came from his fascination of masonry, which he credited to his wet-nurse’s breastmilk, since his mother, Francesca Neri, was ill and un-suited to care for him. This resulted in him being placed with a family of stonecutters, from which he claimed to have “…sucked in the hammer and chisels I use for my statues." With little interest in studies, he was known to have preferred doodling and drawing .

This bond was short lived though, some 2 yearsafter Michelangelo had moved in, Lorenzo passed away. This lost sadden Michelangelo greatly. He fled back home to live with his father and siblings. A move which he regretted, he left hisfathers’

Background Information of William Dawes Dawes’s mother died when he was very young, and since his father was often abroad on colonial service, he was brought up by relatives and friends and his schooling was several times interrupted. At first he intended to become a clergyman, but instead he studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and afterward worked a country practice in Berkshire. In 1826, following the death of a sister, Dawes moved to Liverpool, and there he came under the influence of a Dissenting minister who persuaded him to take charge of a small congregation in Ormskirk. When I was at 7th grade, I read a book about Michelangelo so this is the topic that I am most interested in and the topic that I know a lot. I read the book both in English and Korean and the book mainly discusses Michelangelo`s famous art work, like Sistine Chapel and it deeply goes in to the book and the book analyzes Sistine Chapel. I`m interested in Sistine Chapel because I am a Christian and there are many religious figures in this painting
