My Middle School Experience Being trapped in the state of fear and lack of self confidence caused me to struggle socially and mentally, but soon I realized how much I have grown as a person. Therefore, I am no longer afraid of starting new and taking a step forward, all thanks to my experience at my middle school MSA (Magnolia Science Academy).
It was a sunny day in August when I nervously started 6th grade at a new school named MSA, a charter school located in Santa Clara, with less than 500 people including middle and high school. I started off with several challenges: making sure to achieve straight As, trying to form new friendships, and being in a new environment.
During the beginning of 6th grade, I was terrified of not being able to catch up on schoolwork and meeting new people since I enrolled into MSA two weeks after the school started. The bell rang for break, so Akansha introduced me to her friends Samantha, a tall, blond girl who’s quiet as a mouse and Alaya, a girl with long eyelashes like a Covergirl model. On that day, the weight on my shoulders immediately disappeared. Soon after, I made more friends, I was eager to go to school everyday. This made me feel happier, warmer, and cheerful.
A turning point occurred at the beginning of 7th grade, and we had a new principal named Mr. Ak, who altered the schedule to each homeroom sharing the exact same schedule based on his/her math level for the rest of the their time at MSA.
