Hanh compares the idea of mindfulness to that of the Holy Spirit in an attempt to show us the similarities in both religions. He describes mindfulness and the Holy Spirit as being representative of the healing powers and spiritual peacefulness found in the teachings of Christ and the Buddha. Mindfulness allows one to have full understanding and love. It gives us the ability to contemplate and heal wounds within our own minds, while the Holy Spirit has the ability to heal us through the power and love of Christ and God, the
What exactly is psychology? While it may seem like a very basic question, it is one of the most common questions asked by students new to the study of psychology. During your first lecture of an introductory psychology class, your instructor might spend some time going around the room asking students to explain what they think psychology involves. During my first psychology class, one girl made a dramatic point of waving her fingers over another student's head and pretending to read his thoughts. Unfortunately, such misconceptions about psychology abound and part of the confusion stems from stereotyped portrayals of psychologists in popular media as well as the diverse careers paths of those holding psychology degrees.
All of these different viewpoints were created through the doubt of someone's beliefs. This has allowed us to learn many different and new information about the brain and human activities through experiments. This is shown in one of the experiments called, “The Bobo Doll experiment”, where the topic of nature v. nurture was being studied. We were able to find more information that was used as evidence to support the nurture side of this debate. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for cultivating this balance and helping us navigate the complex terrain of doubt and certainty.
Practicing meditation allows me to become aware of my thoughts and the world around me. I can better understand who I am by spending 10 minutes alone and reflecting on my thoughts. I enjoy reflecting on myself because mentally creating the person I want to be and taking action will only translate positively in my life. This form of intelligence will allow me to succeed in my future career. I aspire to become a nurse, and by understanding my own emotions and deeply comprehending my awareness, I can help

POSITIVE SPIRITUAL ENCOUNTERS:- Positive spiritual encounters are those a person, people, families or congregations meet up with when they experience the presence of the Lord. For instance, in the tabernacle they could not stand by reason of the glory of God or when Apostle Peter and John experienced the glory of God on the mountain top and Peter didn’t want to come down anymore, but asked the Lord if they could pitch-up tents to stay up there forever. Positive spiritual encounters were also experienced by Moses through the burning bush, Saul – Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, the disciples on the day of Pentecost, the falling apart of the walls of Jericho through the power of praise, the supernatural provision of manna from heaven
Gordon (2011) defines arbitration as a process where both parties to the dispute agree to have their case heard and determined before an agreed neutral party called the arbitrator. Arbitration can either be voluntary where parties agree to settle disputes through arbitration or mandatory where the decision to go to arbitration is embedded in an agreement. On the other hand, meditation refers to an informal process where both parties agree on a third party who will help them resolve the dispute. Unlike in arbitration, the mediator does not have control over the final outcome of the process and the decision of that process is not binding on parties unless they voluntarily adopt it (McLean & Wilson, 2008).
Mediation is their practice of focusing and letting go of worldly problems. However Hinduism incorporates the practice of Yoga into their mediation to focus on realms of the universe. Buddhism uses mediation to focus and reach enlightenment or Nirvana. Mediation is similar to Christianity's idea of prayer, to take time away from the world and focus on our religions

Over the course of this winter quarter, I have learned in my class of Psychology of Wellness how to incorporate mindfulness into my daily life. The definition of mindfulness is considered an art. In the book of the Fully Present, the authors Susan Smalley and Diana Winston transmitted their wisdom on how to learn, practice and cultivate this art. According to the mentioned authors, they defined mindfulness as “the art of observing your physical, emotional, and mental experiences with deliberate, open, and curious attention” (2010, p.78). This definition shared by the authors is simple, but it communicates what are the characteristics that an individual needs to consider when it comes to being mindful.
Yoga and meditation could play a big part in your life a lot of people don't get that advantage of taking the class that I got to take. I never thought it would be something I'm really into and I think it's good for you just in general I would have trouble waking up in the morning so I would sun salutations to become more attentive then at night I would focus on my deep meditation along with my heart centering to bring my energy back down. Overall I think yoga has changed my perspective on how to look at situations and how to handle them, I believe it can do anyone good in their life, it can build a positive bond with your conscience and other people.
According to Beth Shaw, Founder/President of Yogafit Training Systems, Worldwide, Inc. in Torrance California, “The benefits of yoga include decreased stress and tension, increased strength and balance, increased flexibility, lowered blood pressure and reduced cortisol levels.” 5. Its practice does not mean going into a trance, since the attempt is not to leave or change the experience of this moment, but to be present within it. Mindfulness is not only for monks or priests – it is a way of connecting with the natural quality of awareness and presence, which all humans have.
