I started this journey about a month before coming to college. The main reason that I was attracted to it was because my anxiety. I have been dealing with anxiety for quite some time but within the last year it has gotten worse. The simplest things would trigger it, like trying to find something to wear. I had a ton of clothes but felt like I had nothing to wear. So I went on the internet and tried to find anything that could help me. That’s when I came across minimalism. I read almost every blog and watched every video that I could find. One of the most common messages was “if you don’t love it then get rid of it or you could live without it”. I did my research for a few days and then one day I just started to go through everything that I owned. If I didn’t love it I got rid of it. I haven’t used it in a long time I got rid of it. I was scared because I thought I would miss everything but I didn’t. Now I don’t have much and I love it. I have limited my wardrobe to about 30 articles of clothing and 5 pair of shoes. I know longer feel overwhelmed trying to get dress in the morning. Some people might think that it would get boring but it doesn’t. Minimalism has opened my eyes a lot. I have realized that it just stuff and I shouldn’t allow it to overwhelm me because it’s more important things in life. I decided I wanted to do this assignment on my favorite minimalist YouTuber, Melissa Alexandria. When I first was doing my research on minimalism her channel was one that I gravitated towards quickly. Her videos are so positive and encouraging unlike most people. She doesn’t try to brainwashing you or bash you for how you are currently are living. Instead she likes to share her story and provide you with steps/ tips to help you get to where you want to
