Being a parent is perhaps the single most powerful influence, we can have on another human being and the future of the world in which we live. The implicit significance of this role requires parents to have an arsenal of information on important factors influencing your child’s development at your fingertips. Being a relatively new parent myself has brought about a keener awareness of the amount of information you need to know so you can make sound decisions about the care, education, nutrition, health, discipline, and a myriad of other topics that arise with the ongoing development of a child from birth up until eighteen years of age. Minnesota Parents Know is a website providing information, support, tools, advice, and local resources for users on topics that range from developmental milestones to a comprehensive index of childrearing subject matter. Perhaps the most important feature is the authoritative platform the website represents, often times it is hard to determine whether information you receive is truly accurate and if so the body of research or professionals representative of the respective facts/figure. …show more content…

It is extremely helpful for parents to have readily available a tool outlining the milestones across developmental domains based on your child’s chronological age. A feature of particular value is the analysis of developmental outcomes a parent can expect based on the grade level of a child across academic subject areas, like literacy, math, and science.
