The Misconception of College College are institutions with the original purpose of providing an education to an individual to be successful in a certain job field. It has existed since hundreds of years ago always with the same purpose, but the idea of college has been different through time. A hundred year ago the common thought was that college was not necessary in order to be successful in life. However, nowadays it is the complete opposite. Most of the population truly believes that the only way of having a successful future is obtaining a degree at a four-year college. There are some job fields that a strong school background is necessary. For example, if your passion is helping people through the medical field, whether it is as a doctor, nurse or related, it is necessary to have the school background. However, there are some job fields that do not require a strong school background. For instance, careers as photographer, mechanic, electrician, or programmer, among others, are careers that have the possibility of studying a two year technician degree or individual small courses specified on the job. This short term time in education allows them to enter the work field quicker to start gaining experience, which nowadays is a crucial factor when it comes to obtaining an excellent job position. It is impressive what can be done without a four-year college education. President, judge and congressman Andrew Jackson, owner and CEO of Coca Cola Charles Culpeper, former NSA and CIA agent at the highest level Edward Snowden, among many other successful people, the only thing that they had in common is that none of those persons has a formal college education.
