Duquesne University’s mission statement is to serve God by serving students. There is a Spiritan mission that includes seven teachings: openness to the spirit, global vision, a sense of community, concern for the poor, commitment to service, high academic standards, and academic freedom. Despite the university religion being Catholic and me being a Christian, serving God and being taught Spiritan Pedagogy is something I can definitely agree with. Since my career choice is social work, I will require high academic credentials and access to community resources. Duquesne will indeed provide me with new skills, experiences, and opportunities to gain knowledge. In addition, the special academic programs will further indulge me in the right path of success. Specifically, the learning communities and service learning connects with my dream career perfectly. I would unquestionably apply to be a part of the honors program. During my time at the university, I might discover new hobbies to broaden my interests. I will join clubs and other types of groups as well. I'm certainly an active person in my school and church. At my school, I undertake multiple volunteer projects throughout the school year with my clubs and the school in general. At my church, I serve throughout the year, helping with church anniversaries, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and other events. Every church is distinctive and honestly, I love learning with and for them. Volunteering and participating in community services at Duquesne is a great way to educate myself further. I would have a new community and another new home with new friends for myself. Differing from Duquesne is not far from my home so it is very convenient for me.
