The assessment I chose for analysis if from Lesson 3 of my learning segment. The learning objective that this assessment looked at was whether or not students were able to recall events in the order that they happened in the story we read for this lesson. Students’ ability to recall events from the story was assessed by asking them to write and draw the events in the correct order. For each sentence the students wrote, they had to use one of the signal words taught in our learning segment (first, second, third). This assessment pushed students to use higher order thinking skills because they had to make sure that each of the sentences they wrote matched up to the pictures in the boxes that they drew the pictures in. To do this, students had …show more content…
All components of this lesson are supported by the main standard W.K.3 “Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred...” This lesson is also supported by the standard RL.K.1 “With prompting and support ask and answer questions about key details in a text.” This lesson addresses the essential literacy strategy by asking students to recall the events in the correct order that they occurred in the story through questioning and the learning task which has students put the pictures of what occurred in the text in the correct order. The related skills of asking and answering questions about key details, identifying major events, and being able to produce and expand on a thought in a complete sentence are addressed in this lesson when students will have to answer questions about key details related to the major events that occurred in the story in complete sentences when they are discussing the story with their …show more content…
The first is that students will be able to answer questions about the sequence of events in a story using evidence from the text; the second is that students will be able to draw pictures representing the events that occurred in the story in the order that they occurred. All components of this lesson are supported by the main standard W.K.3 “Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred...” This lesson is also supported by the standard RL.K.1 “With prompting and support ask and answer questions about key details in a text.” The essential literacy strategy is addressed in this lesson because students will be asked to recall the events that took place in this story through turn and talks with a neighbor and questioning. The related skills of asking and answering questions about key details, identifying major events, and being able to produce and expand on a thought in a complete sentence are addressed in this lesson when students will have to answer questions about key details related to the major events that occurred in the story in complete sentences when they are discussing the story with their neighbor. Students will then be asked to draw three of the loosely linked events that occurred in the story in the correct order and write the corresponding signal word (first, next ,last) underneath each
