For new hires, the adjustment was especially challenging. They often found themselves feeling like outsiders, unable to connect with their colleagues, and struggling to find common ground. Despite this, the management team at Alpha Centauri recognized the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment. In response to making new hires feel welcomed, they introduced training programs to help new employees adapt to the space sector, providing them with the knowledge and tools they needed to succeed. Bauer and Erdogan's (2011) research shows that creating a sense of belonging in the workplace is crucial for employee engagement, productivity, and retention. Bauer and Erdogan's (2011) research has also shown that the socialization process can play a significant role in transforming outsiders into insiders. Socialization is the process through which new employees learn about the company culture, norms, and expectations, and how they fit into their roles. Successful socialization can lead to higher job satisfaction, better performance, and lower turnover rates (Bauer and Erdogan, 2011). The onboarding program included the following elements: • Orientation sessions: New hires received a comprehensive orientation that covers the company culture, values, mission, and expectations. This helped the new hires understand the organization's goals and values and how their role fits into the larger picture. • Mentorship programs: New hires were assigned a mentor who guided them through the onboarding process to help them navigate the workplace culture. Mentors helped new employees understand the norms, expectations, and social dynamics of the organization. • Social events: Social events were organized to help new hires build relationships with their colleagues and feel more connected to the organization before they even started. These social events included team-building activities, company outings, or informal gatherings. By implementing these onboarding programs that included these elements, Alpha Centauri helped new employees feel more integrated into the workplace culture and reduce the likelihood of them feeling like outsiders. This, in turn, also lead to higher job satisfaction, better job performance, and lower turnover
