Moral Philosophy Defined Moral philosophy can be defined as a set of principles, or rules, which people use to decide what is right or wrong. These principles, rules, or philosophies have a set of guidelines for resolving conflicts within an organization and ways to optimizing the mutual benefit of people working or existing in a social group . It is presumed that most business stakeholders(ie., employers, employee, investors etc.) are generally guided by moral philosophies as they formulate business strategies and resolve specific ethical issues. Moral Philosophies There are many moral philosophies, the book limits them into the most applicable on the of business ethics. The chapter introduces the concept of goodness and several types of moral Philosophies, namely: teleology, deontology, Egoism,Utilitarianism, Relativist, Virtue ethics and Justice. Teleological (or consequentialist) philosophies specify that behavioral reactions are morally right if they produce some kind of desirable result, such as realization of self-interest or utility. …show more content…
