In a world that has a history's worth of great and not so great leaders, we can look at how leaders within our community compares to some of the people that we have considered leaders. Mrs. Balfour has to be one of the most effective leaders that I have met in my life but how does she compare to people in history? While going through the different leaders we have covered, I also looked at the leadership characteristic that they have that were covered in the different chapters. The two units that I believe Mrs. Balfour has the most in common with are unit 1 which covered personal leadership philosophy and unit 5 which is building a team. By the way he lead his team into greatness, Coach Boone out did himself. I see a lot of Mrs. Balfour in Coach Boone. Mrs. Balfour cared for her students like Coach Boone did his team. At first, it is difficult to get team together that will work together efficiently as it is also hard for a teacher to get her students to listen at the start of the semester. Although both Boone and Balfour didn't give in nor did they change how to did things. They both acted tough and didn't give into excuses. If you messed up, own up to it around these two. They won't let you off the hook but they did this to make their students and team better. Even if you said you were trying your best, they didn't accept that because accepting that will lead you to failure. They just wanted to make you better even if it is tough. Something that stood out to me while watching Remember the Titans was when Coach Boone told one of his team members to come to him for extra studying so he didn't fail school. This made me think about something Mrs. Balfour did for me that I will never forget. The summer after 9th grade for me, My mom passed away due to liver failure. Mrs. Balfour had heard about it from one of my other teachers. Right before class on the second day back to school, she told me to go wait for her outside of the classroom in a harsh tone. I assumed that I was in trouble, probably dress code. When she came out to
