As a child, I was an okay kid. I tried to be nice and polite to everyone. I was talkative with the neighbors and had a big group of friends. However, I did get into some trouble with those friends. I was vandalizing property and got caught. They wanted to send me to jail for vandalizing, but my family didn't want that for me. They promised them that they would watch over me and keep me in the house, out of trouble. This began a dark time for me. I couldn’t go out and see my friends or even have a polite conversation with Mrs. Maudie, my favorite neighbor. I was trapped in the house for fifteen years. I became anti-social and even a little delusional.

It was Mrs. Maudie’s house that was on fire. All the neighbors were gathered around the house, including Jem and Scout. It was a cold night and I could everyone was a little chilly. I decided I was going to go out there and give a blanket to them. I have to be quick for no one to see, I didn't want to get stopped and talk to any of the neighbors. Since I’ve been living in my house and never going out, I have become a bit socially awkward. But, I was going to do this to show my care for them. I saw them walking to the Halloween pageant. I knew they would be gone for probably for an hour or two, so when three hours hit I got worried. I decided to go out and check up on them. I was walking through the woods and saw Jem and Scout. Scout was in a ham suit from the pageant. Everyone seemed safe, but then I heard a sound in the bushes. I needed to make sure they were safe, I stayed a couple yards away. The sound of the bushes became louder and a man came out of them. I couldn't make out who it was but I noticed the person started following Jem and Scout. I started to get concerned so I started walking faster towards them. The man started to attack Jem and Scout. He pushed Scout on the ground and broke Jem’s arm before I could get to him. I came up to the man, who I recognized as Bob Ewell. I grabbed him and shoved him on the ground. Then I pulled my knife out of my pocket and stabbed Bob in his ribs. I picked up Jem and helped Scout get up off the ground to their house. I let them talk to their father and I walked in their house. I wanted to know if Jem was going to be alright. I hid in the corner of the room to watch the situation. They turned towards me and I was very shy, I haven't talked to my neighbor in years. They told me Jem would be okay and that it was just a broken arm. They also thanked me for watching over them.
