Professionalism and Personal Development
Strive for excellence, being prepared, and teach the curriculum in an exciting and engaging way. Following the Alberta School Act, the Alberta Quality Standards, and the Code of Professional Conduct as the guiding principle of this profession. Understand my own strengths and limitations and pursue self/ professional improvement.

Student-Centered Learning
Teachers must create an environment that is open and respectful for all. Where students feel supported and respected. A place where it is understood by all, that students learn at different speeds and in different ways. Where the teacher’s teaching style is flexible enough to address distinct …show more content…

A relationship built on trust will allow for the creation of a nurturing classroom where students feel safe and supported to take risks and challenge themselves. I believe that both successes and failures can be used as points of growth and learning, where a student is further challenged and motivated to face adversity with their successes.

A strong teacher-parent/ guardian relationship is important for growth of the student. This interaction will keep the caregiver informed as to the progress, success, and areas where there may be struggles. Two-way communication where the caregivers can also ask for support and inform the teacher of struggles outside of school that may affect learning. Positive communication here will aid the student in rectifying or reveal struggles so they can be supported and/or resolved.

Diversity and human dignity
Diversity will be looked at as a source of strength where all students can feel welcomed, heard, and respected. A place where students can discuss their similarities and differences without fear, where knowledge will breakdown the walls of ignorance. In this new era of mass globalization and interconnectedness, this will be a vital attribute in future
