As a sophomore in high school, I have exemplified the four pillars of the National Honor Society. Throughout my high school life, I have maintained an unweighted GPA of 4.0, reflecting my dedication to academic excellence. In addition to my strong academic performance, I have received several Principal's Honor Award certificates, which recognize students who demonstrate exceptional scholarship and character. These achievements are a testament to my commitment to academic success and my passion for learning.
The Urban Honors College, in my family, has always been seen as an advantageous program to be a part of. Urban Honors is a rigorous program, but it provides many great opportunities too. It separates a groups of students, who all have a similar drive for excellence, from the rest of the student body and allows them to flourish. For this very reason I want to join this program. I want the challenge of a more difficult workload, while attending PSU and I feel the Urban Honors College is my best choice.
The Morehead Honors Program opens many doors for the receivers. Several magnificent programs and internships are offered to students that are part of this wonderful program; these include an internship in Frankfort, an intensive summer research program for students interested in medicine or dentistry, a commitment to host a show on the campus television station for a year, and a year-long volunteering experience working with children in after-school programs. Honestly, the volunteering experience in after-school programs for children interests me enormously. Along with building onto my existing skills, I will develop new skills, grow as a person due to the experience, and face my fears and anxieties. I believe I would thoroughly enjoy that
Getting nominated by my professors and other school leaders to be a candidate for membership in the National Honor Society is a great honor for me. It means that I have acquired my goal of demonstrating my determination and persistence. I believe that I will be able to become a valuable member of the National Honor Society even though I haven't fully developed all the qualities required by this prestigious organization. Although I haven’t fully developed all the qualities, I believe that the National Honor Society will help me achieve the growth and development I need in the qualities required. The qualities required by this organization are scholarship, leadership, character and service abilities.
Some may take the easy way out, but others challenge themselves and take on what the world throws at them. Even though they may not achieve the results they would like, they keep pushing themselves and don’t give up. Not everything in life comes easily, so some sacrifices have to be made for the long run. Of course there will be those whose only goal is to just pass, nothing less, nothing more, but there will also be those who go above and beyond. We, as AP students, know that for a successful career, college is the first step and colleges look for students who challenge themselves in a tough course rather than getting a 100 in a regular course.
To begin, my academic goal is to graduate from Arizona State University in May of 2018 with a B.S. in Political Science and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with two areas of concentration in (1) Justice Studies and (2) Sociology. In my first semester at Arizona State University I achieved a term GPA of 4.08 as well as designation on the Dean's List and earned an invitation to the Alpha Iota Sigma Honor Society for achieving academic excellence in Interdisciplinary Studies. While attending Folsom Lake Community College I was inducted into the Beta Mu Upsilon Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in the spring of 2016 for earning a high academic standing with a class rank in the top 10%. Additionally, I achieved a 4.0 GPA for three consecutive semesters prior to transferring to
Being a part of The National Honors Society is something that I’ve strived for ever since hearing about the program a few years ago. This organization does many great things for society, and I would be honored to be apart of it. In order to be a part of this organization, a student must possess qualities which include academics, service, leadership, and character. These are the qualities that I have aimed to show throughout my high school career. I believe that as a member of the National Honors Society, I could improve my life and who I am as a person, along with contributing to the organization.
I am ready to board the ship, and set sail – pointing towards a bright future of being an ECU pirate. Being admitted into the Honors College at ECU would be the catalyst to a successful future. As a high school senior, I am considering many universities and believe that being apart of the ECU community would allow me to reach my full potential. Growing up I have always set high standards for myself academically and extracurricularly. I participate in many clubs at my school including BETA club and National Honor Society.
It is a great honor to be considered for membership in the National Honor Society. Since I was a sophomore, my ambition was to study diligently to be amongst the highest students and to be accepted into this scholastic "hall of fame". Getting considered indicates that I have met my goal of exhibiting my thrive and willingness to assist people in my community, so becoming a part of this distinguished institution is a huge responsibility to which I will commit my whole attention. My desire to become a student at The University of Maryland, and more specifically, the A. James Clark School of Engineering, can be distilled into one word: opportunity. UMD Engineering represents the best of the best - the chance to study alongside the brightest, most motivated of my peers, to learn from an accomplished faculty, to take advantage of the finest facilities and alumni networks on the planet. It is an opportunity which will challenge my worldview, expose me to new cultures, and mold me into the best version of myself. While at South River High School I choose to pursue many AP classes. Those classes not only helped me develop college-level academic skills.
I wish to transfer to University of California Los Angeles after two years at Irvine Valley College and then attend University of Washington for graduate school. I plan on majoring in chemistry and I am currently debating between pursuing a job as a physician assistant or a doctor. On the other hand, my personal my goal is to get an internship as a medical assistant in a hospital. In addition, I would like to spend more time with family and friends. I believe that I am an appropriate candidate for the Honors Program because I enjoy challenging myself academically.
From August 2010 to May 2017, I’ve had the privilege of attending A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School. For acceptance into this school, each student is selected from a highly competitive application process. Once enrolled, I found myself surrounded by other high achieving students who were career-oriented. After six years at the magnet school, I was one of 22 students to graduate with Honors in 2017. I hold Georgia State University’s Honors College in high regard because it provides multiple opportunities that will allow me to excel.
I can contribute my hard work to the Honors College community. I think that I am hardworking and I love to work with others to help solve problems because two heads are always better than one. I would contribute my ideas to the lessons and help others when they need it. I love to be able to work with other people outside my comfort zone and be able to hear their ideas and combine ideas to come up with something that will benefit everyone in the community.
The University of Pennsylvania offers an elite undergraduate program for medical students. I am applying to the College of Arts & Sciences, which is known for being a forte at the University of Pennsylvania, a well-known school. The general popularity alone shows that UPenn’s undergraduate program can be trusted to help me achieve my goals if I attend. Furthermore, the University of Pennsylvania is a part of the Quest Bridge scholarship, which shows that the University of Pennsylvania is seeking the brightest students. I believe I am part of the group of current high school graduates who can be labeled as the brightest, and wish to surround myself with other like-minded persons so as to further my own capabilities and studies.
