My dream is to become a firefighter paramedic. Ever since I was child with a remote control fire truck, I have been infatuated with the possibility of becoming a firefighter. Firefighting/ Paramedic would let me express my love for saving lives, while allowing me to apply my training and expertise in the event of an emergency ranging from an elderly person falling to a house fire. While pursuing my dream of being a firefighter I am also preparing myself to attend Rogers State University for their paramedic schooling. Being a firefighter is not all about driving 70 mph on a 35 mph road, or being the rookie that likes to play with the bright lights and sirens. It is definitely nothing like the glorified show called Chicago Fire where the amount of smoke inside is not even enough for a single leaf being on fire. It is about getting woken up at 2 A.M. when the tones sound for a fully involved house fire with possible entrapment and only being able to see a foot in front of them because there is so much smoke. Sometimes it can be the simple things like getting a cat stuck out of a tree because a 90 year old lady accidently let it out and it is the only thing she has left. The easiest times are when you get to go home to your family after a long day and hug them a little bit tighter because that last call was an unresponsive individual who turned out to be signal 30.
