“ A goal without a plan is just a wish” said Antoine De Saint Exupery. Without a plan it is very difficult to accomplish a goal. 65% of Americans set goals and do not achieve them. I believe that setting a goal is the key to success. Since a major goal in my life is to attend James Madison University I have broken my goal into three steps. My steps are making good grades, saving money, and choosing an excellent major. First of all, since I have loved this school ever since we visited with my sister when she was looking for a college to attend. For example, this summer I will be working and some of that money will be used help me to pay for my dream college. I began thinking about how I could start saving money to go here. I work for my family every week and get paid $15.00 per week to do a list of chores. I decided to put $15 per month in a jar for James Madison. Occasionally, I have babysitting jobs and I put half of whatever I make in the JMU jar. When people give me gifts of cash, I put half of the cash I get in my college jar. I have been surprised at how vastly my money is adding up. When there is spare change around the house, my father always asks me if I would like it. I gratefully add it to my college jar. I was able to save $250 last year. I plan to continue saving money until I go to college. I imagine myself being on campus and it motivates me to work very hard in school and to get excellent grades. I will be acquired to work very hard if I want to make the requirement for the GPA at James Madison. The average GPA for James Madison is 3.53 and that makes it extremely competitive. Under those circumstances, I plan to achieve this ambitious goal by being organized and disciplined with my school work.
