My Career Goals: Athletic Training Outlined Any sports fanatic has heard about Athletic Trainers. Anyone who has watched, or has been to a sporting event, has seen the person who runs out and tends to the injured athlete on the field. That person is the team’s Athletic Trainer. While being strong and having skills are definitely needed to be a great sports player or succeed in keeping your body healthy and strong, it goes much deeper than that.
20 years ago sitting in front of a panel of instructors for a Licensed Practical Nursing program entrance interview I was asked a question where do you see yourself in 15 years? I replied that I would be doing a doctorate in Nursing. I feel that the different roles in various levels of Nursing from being a Certified Nursing Assistant to the nurse I am today have since molded my decision to pursue a DNP in Nursing Administration and this program is the right fit for me. I want to become a Nurse Leader at the cutting edge of developing advancements in education methods for disease prevention in various patient populations while serving with integrity.
As an individual with a passion of stepping into the lives of others during testing times towards making life easier, I am determined to develop a fulfilling career as a nurse practitioner. Having graduated in BSN from Barry University in 2014, currently I am serving the emergency department at SMH as a registered nurse. My fervor of transforming into an impeccable nursing professional through sharpening my knowledge and skills has inspired me to continue my education. At present, I am enrolled for the Master of Science in Nursing program at the Nursing School of Barry University and getting specialized in Nurse Practitioner Acute Care. I look forward to graduating in 2020.
I am a firm believer that in order to be happy and successful, you need to have a job that you love to do. This ideology is what motivated me to want to become a nurse practitioner and help the people in my community. Attending California State University, Los Angeles is allowing me to pursue my academic goal of getting into the nursing program. My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
My long term goals are to acquire my Doctorate of Nursing Practice after completing the Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner concentration program. I would use my advance practice license in a clinical setting and later give back and share my knowledge and expertise in an educator role. I am interested in the Nursing profession and I have been interested in this profession since I was an adolescent. In particular, I have attained a strong interest in the career path of a Nurse Practitioner. Embarrassingly, my interest in being a Nurse Practitioner initiated as just a vague rudimentary idea inside my head that was brought upon through constant viewing of the tv shows Scrubs, House and Grey’s Anatomy. My interest did not become profound until my first semester at Merrimack College. Setting goals is easy, but my personality and character surface each time achieve my goals. Over the years, I have developed my mission statement based on my experiences and my culture. My goals include pursing a doctorate in Physical Therapy, succeeding as a student, and expanding my personal paradigm to better myself as a person. In high school, I was involved in extracurricular activities such as varsity soccer, cross country, and band.
Academic Goal The academic goal I have set forth is to do my very best in all my courses only A’s and B’s. This way I will have increased my odds in being accepted into multiple nursing programs so I can take the right step in achieving my first career goal as an ER rn . Joining a professional association for nurses is one of my short-term goals. In this association, I aim to identify mentors to spearhead my learning patterns. Similarly, I frequently attend specialty conferences besides getting involved in different exchange programs that improve my communication skills.
