A writing goal I have besides having stronger analysis is to improve my vocabulary and word choice in the essay. Overall I was happy with my
Going forward, I would like to do a couple of things. First, I want to cut out the small mistakes I keep making in my writing such as grammatical errors or adding extra words to sentences. I can do this by doing a better job of proofreading my work before turning it in. Second, I want to try and give more in-depth feedback to other students so that they can improve their papers. They give me feedback, and I use it to improve my papers, so the least that I can do is try to give them the best feedback I can possibly
In the end, your writing is what you make it. It is how much effort is put into it that makes it either outstanding or possible average. Therefore, in this class I hope to gain more knowledge and use of different literary devices, and see examples of them being used in books. As well as increase my vocabulary by reading different types of writing, and based on this, my writing skills will improve. Besides that, I want to be able to analyze important text critically and thoroughly.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
Since I take more pride in my writing ability it allows me to challenge myself and push my skill set. When we are given time to write a paper, I have began to write many drafts until I finally finish the perfect
In conclusion, the most significant concept I want to improve is putting all my thoughts together and organized into a well written paper. I also commit to putting a larger effort into accepting my mistakes and fixing them. I know this class will prepare me for the future for the reason that my struggle with communicating in writing is not something I can avoid. It is a skill that I will need everyday, through college, through a career, and throughout my whole
During this semester of taking English 102, I believe I have improved to some extent. In the beginning of this year I was hoping I would change the way I wrote my papers, so I could sound more like a college student. Learning how to incorporate Rhetorical Tools, researching the topics, and coming up with how to organize my paper are some concepts that have helped me grow. Continually have assignments due, were a lot of time and effort, but helped me practice and grow furthermore into the writer I would like to become.
Another area of improvement is my study habits, I would like to study further in advance and cram less, this will help for me to retain more of the information and understand the material on a deeper level. Finally, I believe that my confidence could be improved. Having a lack of confidence causes me to be very shy and
Writing has always been a way to communicate our ideas with others. Through history, writing has had a major role; it has transcended a lot of thoughts and knowledge that have become timeless, having a profound effect and being one of the most influential ways we can all communicate and express our thoughts. Writing is one of the most important inventions in human history and despite it having the ability to give us a way to express ourselves, our thoughts may not always be easy to convey. I might know exactly what I want to express and share, but when it comes to writing it down on paper, I always seem to struggle one way or another and the struggle only seems to escalate when having to adapt to the demands of a higher level writing. The adaptation of a certain set of rules that are presented may have the effect of making me feel that something as simple as articulating a point of view that is purely mine, suddenly has become significantly harder than it should be, and my confidence has suddenly been interrupted by a stress-filled battle between the
There definitely has been some improvements in my writing this semester, but unfortunately there has also been some negative qualities that I have noticed coming up more often. The main difference that I have noticed in my writing is a better connection to the text and getting my message across better. The quality of my writing is usually directly related to the prompt, and since all of our articles we read were so intriguing, I was challenged more in my writing which made me strive to do
Mrs. Weaver, When I create my first draft I do so by freewriting, technique in which I write continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. The final product is not even a thought in my brain. The process is my main focus; the process is emptying my brain of all excess ideas, gibberish, and irrational thoughts. I start writing with typically multiple perspectives and/or ideas. When I complete my freewriting, I realize which perspective and ideas I will be using in my writing.
This research paper is my second, one of the least amount of longest essays, I had to write and there were many obstacles I overcame. Nevertheless, I do feel I overcame most of them and I learned so much about my writing. One of the things that I overcame was finding a method to start long progresses like the one we just did. When I read Henrietta Lacks and the essay was presented, I expected to be writing an essay on a topic that was full of facts and well basically just research.
This goal is one I am still pursuing, as I have a few tasks I am still trying to become proficient at. The goals I am still working on are punctuation, sentence structure, and becoming accustomed to writing in my discipline. One thing I have tried to improve my writing is reading it aloud. This has solved many of the sentence structure mistakes, such as run on and nonsense sentences. Punctuation is still a work in progress.
Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. Every steps and skills I learned in this English class will help me to improve on my writing skills in my other classes and will also help me in my future
