My Reflection On My Writing Process

When I create my first draft I do so by freewriting, technique in which I write continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. The final product is not even a thought in my brain. The process is my main focus; the process is emptying my brain of all excess ideas, gibberish, and irrational thoughts. I start writing with typically multiple perspectives and/or ideas. When I complete my freewriting, I realize which perspective and ideas I will be using in my writing. This determined by seeing which topic I am the most comfortable with/which topic I have the best information to fit on my stance. I personally feel when I write my first draft with double spacing, I cheat myself by thinking that I have written more than I actually have. In conjunction to the design edits, I make sure that there are 1” margins all around, mainly as a result of that is what my computer already has set up. I either write quite fast on my first draft or not at all. For I know that if I write and I am not in the correct mind-space, I will most likely dislike the writing and will want to rewrite it. I always start and finish my papers on my computer (if I have a choice). If a paper is required to be handwritten, I will most likely be going to type up my paper, then rewrite my paper in pen and pencil. The writing genre I like the most is argumentative, not persuasive, or a controversial/mixed feelings essay. Rather than having my teacher choose it for me choose my topic, I prefer to pick out my own topic. This is due to the fact that I do not enjoy writing about dull topics, nevertheless occasionally a new challenge is nice. I prefer open ended assignments, as long as that is how the teacher grades and they do not have a secret curriculum as their grading rubric. When I receive an assignment I usually procrastinate until 1/3 of the days have passed (1 out of 3 days, 3 out of 9 days, etc.). However, I do not completely procrastinate during the one third period, I try to spend time thinking about what I am going to say. I am willing to put in 12 hours if I do the project in 2-3 days. Conversely, I never finish revising until the hour the paper is due, just to ensure I review almost
