My Leadership Philosophy

I was born in India, have always been shy around new people, and have had a hard time adapting with new people. Once I get used to them, however, they would have never guessed that I was ever shy. I am always outgoing with people I know so I do not know if that makes me an introvert or an extrovert. Some leadership events that have happened in my life are that I have led a basketball team to the playoffs when we had no hope of getting there and I have tutored different people with things they do not understand at school. These have definitely affected me in positive light. Right now, I am growing rapidly as a leader and am determined. I want to become a leader so I can help people make the right decisions. Show everyone the same amount of respect regardless of their social status, financial status, or their job. Treat the president the same as you would treat a janitor. This has not changed and am hoping will not change. Specific leadership theories that have guided my practice is the one I just said and also stay honest no matter what. The leadership theory that works best for me and is the most simple is stay honest. I said at the beginning that I need to overcome my shyness and now I realize that I should consciously strike up a conversation with others. I have learned from this semester that people become great whenever they do things for others, whenever they only think about the benefits of others, and stand strong against violence. I have learned that I have major opportunity to succeed in leadership and I just need to make use of that opportunity. I have learned to deal with shyness and humiliation by ignoring them and consciously interacting with others. I have learned to deal with successes by keeping my humility and not boasting or being arrogant. I have grown more humility and have strengthened my core beliefs such as honesty. I have been able to incorporate honesty and humility in many instances in my life. I still need to improve my public speaking skills or talking in front of a large crowd. Ideas or experiences that have stood out is mainly the non-violence talked about by Gandhi and an idea was always pick experiences over materialistic items. Non-violence has been the most meaningful to me because our view of defeating an army is through violence but Gandhi brought in something that no one has ever seen. 360 Evaluations has been most beneficial to me because it makes me learn a lot about myself. It forces me to understand myself and my actions and personality. In ethics, when we talked about if the responsibility is blamed on someone else the person will do it, this changed my view of people and I started trying
