My Management Philosophy Statement

My management philosophy is that of a horizontal communication structure and maintaining a motivated team. In addition, I am open minded and encourage division of labour. My management style is that of consultation. I am not a domineering person since I always believe that the unique skills that members have are beneficial to the whole group. I believe in creativity myself and this makes me keep an open mind towards others.
My ideal organization is one in which team members are able to make decisions at lower levels so that solutions to the customers are given in a timely manner. I am not a proponent of tall bureaucratic chains since I consider them to be time-consuming and an impediment to competition (in cases where customer service is considered a determinant of competition). As a study group leader, I divided my team into three groups of two people each. The three groups had leaders and were responsible for finding the solutions to the three problems separately. By the end of the assignment, each team leader would present their findings with the other two groups. After, the joint presentations, the teams would collate all possible solutions and present the most feasible. What resulted from this was an excellent work, a motivated team and an expanded knowledge. There was ease of communication and decisions could be taken at much lower levels since the leaders of the sub-groups had decision making powers. The members were motivated since they felt their individual contribution was appreciated. The consultation methodology contributed to knowledge sharing.
