My Personal Philosophy Of Leadership

Most people will encounter leadership at some point in their lives. My personal philosophy on Leadership is to surround myself with good people who have a passion for service and nourish them to attain a common vision. The textbook discusses several leadership styles to effectively manage an organization. However, is there a difference between a manager and a leader? A manager is someone who announces their authority and leads others to build their ideal future. A leader encourages others to take action and points out the unlimited possibilities for others. According to the textbook, some managers prefer directive leadership where they assume personal responsibility to complete a task and make big decisions (Brody, R., & Nair, M. 2013). This can lead to other members of your team feeling unsatisfied and undervalued. As a leader, it is very important to include all the team members in a project. This style allows the staff to give their own ideas and feedback about a project (Brody, R., & Nair, M. 2013). I believe that the most important part of being a leader is not being afraid to admit to your mistakes and being willing to collaborate. I would rather go back to the drawing board and come up with a completely new plan as a team than continue working on a project that is not living up to the expectation. One of my challenges is that I am unwilling to take risks at times. I prefer to follow in the footsteps of others that have come before me and try to replicate their success formula. With this leadership style, I am learning to be open to new ideas and take on unknown challenges if that is the best option for the team. My priority will always be doing right by my team even if we have to work a little harder to achieve our common
