This paper was probably one of the hardest paper I had to write just because I felt like I was on my own. I was scared at first but i felt like this helped me learn how to properly look and analyze a speech or a writing in general. One way this helped was I highlighted what I thought was a rhetorical device and I had to properly analyze it and see what he/ she is trying to accomplish through his or her writing.
Writing is an essential part of an individual’s success. Writing comes in many forms, and it is not only used in an English course. It can be an email to a college professor, a resume, a lab report, a hotel review, etc. There are countless forms are writing, and it is important to understand how to approach each piece of writing. Writing is part of an individual’s daily life, and understanding the importance of rhetorical knowledge, genre knowledge, and audience awareness with make it easier to approach different types of writing, and ultimately improve one’s writing skills.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
I have taken some classes on writing and have improved my writing drastically over the years. As with everything, there is plenty to improve on. My high school was a college preparatory school, so we did countless papers. One of my strengths is to be able to come up with a paper fairly quickly, but I do need to improve in some areas. Things I should improve on are word choice and sentence fluency.
The tone of my writing has definitely changed over my years of being a writer. Although reading has always been my strong subject, I’ve come to love writing. I would describe my standard tone as a mix of using figurative language techniques such as imagery and having a sort of sarcastic diction. I love using figurative language techniques such as imagery because I feel like it makes reading more vivid to the reader. I like to ready books by authors that use imagery because it makes the book like a movie in my mind.
This past year in English has been rewarding and self-fulfilling. I entered the year as a new and improved Poppers in writing essays. A glance at my first paper- an essay on Ender's Game- and my last one in 9th grade, the This I Believe essay, is a great example of the incredible differences in my writing which quickly improved as a freshman. However, entering sophomore year I was struck with the false belief that I was done learning about how to write and that from then on would just be about gaining more experience. How wrong I was.
If I were asked by my boss, family member or friend what I have learned in school thus far, I would tell them that I have learned how to become an author, writing snob, and a self- proclaimed avid reader. All of these traits have enabled me to become a successful student and better professional. Before coming to Bethel University, I felt I had great writing skills as I wrote company policies, job descriptions and other Human Resources related materials every day. However, I now feel that my writing skills are average and can definitely be improved upon.
PART A: My writing process and the process described by the authors are the same in many ways. Just like the book I carefully read the assignment to make sure I understand what I’m supposed to do. Then I try to come up with a topic that I want to write about. I also like to brainstorm ideas and from there I start writing.
A semester have passed in a blink of our eyes and we are heading toward the end. Therefore, it is time to reflect upon my writing skills. Earlier in the semester, I aimed for an A in this class and I also wish to become a more efficient writer. In order to do so, I planned to use a lot of the available resources such as the writing lab, Learning Curve, and

When he signs a contract, the writer will be wholly committed to complete the work within the deadline assigned. Hoping for having more time to write the article make the writer weak in his writing skills and the publisher cannot have that writer for a longer period. When a task is given to paraphrase a poem, the writer can use the tool paraphraser or the rewording tool that help in better writing.
It looked interesting to me and we can add more detailing in the notes by using this method. No, it was not tough for me but have to consider detailings about it. So, I did refer the text for examples. I tried to do all three methods but, out of all three formal outline method is easy to use for me.
English class has never really been my strongest subject, in regards to fully understanding the work and criteria. The lack of confidence coming into this year was unreal but I feel as though I’ve improved significantly. Having never been taught claim, data, warrant I was a little apprehensive when it came time to writing papers. Improving my writing skills was actually a goal I had strived to meet, and after realizing the college level would be much more difficult, I found it imperative to strengthen my writing capabilities. I grew more confident in expressing what I had to say and how I said it.
Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time.
My Writing Struggles After taking AP English III, I became better at organizing my papers, but realizing I need to improve my grammar skills and staying focused on my supporting points. All throughout my writing career, I was always thought to be an outstanding writer, especially using vocabulary above my grade range. Naturally, I would see myself as an excellent writer as well until I took Mrs. Bingham’s AP English II course. Mrs. Bingham always gave pointers, tips, and work to improve my class’s writing skills as a whole.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
