Being selected as a possible candidate for admission to the National Honor Society at Manchester High School is a tremendous honor, one that I do not take for granted. The National Honor Society is an established and prestigious organization that recognizes exemplary students across the nation. It is a privilege just to have the opportunity to be a part of this society. Being one of the top 20 in my class with a GPA of 4.4, I take it as my duty to help my community. Not only do I strive to set an example for my fellow classmates of hard work and dedication, but I also try to further along those that are behind. For example, I tutor my intellectually handicapped neighbor in whatever subject he needs. It fills me with pride and joy to see him improve, knowing that I had an influence on that improvement. That pride and joy is something that I would love to continue to experience working with the National Honor Society to help better my community. Another characteristic I can bring to this organization is my willingness to dedicate my time to helping others with their work. Recently I have taken up the habit of asking my Spanish Immersion teachers on the days I stay after if they need any help before I leave, and if they say yes, I happily do whatever they tell me. If I were to get into this organization, that dedication would come with me, and I would happily use my time helping others with their work. The last attribute that I would bring to the National Honor Society is my devotion to learn something when I set my mind on it. My grandmother currently lives in Panama and unfortunately only
