Cadet Joseph Heinen and Cadet Samuel Sindelar staffed a recruiting booth at Fargo 's Davies High School to talk to high school students about the opportunities AFROTC can provide for them. It is already known that I am a diligent and successful student, like all of the other nominees for the National Honor Society. What makes me different and unique from the other nominees is my my sense of commitment. At Xavier, I take part in multiple extracurricular activities including clubs and sports. Thanks to the addition of the community period, I have been able to join almost ten different clubs. A couple of these clubs, such as the Surfing, Engineering, and Student Leadership Council, were originally founded within the past two years.
Literacy Narrative Assignment When deliberating the word “literacy”, customarily the reading and writing components taught throughout English class come to mind; however, these are just examples of one particular form of literacy. In addition, literacy comes in several styles that don’t obligatorily involve reading passages and analyzing details from the text; in fact, it consists of several styles of cultural, environmental, and financial. Nonetheless, job literacy has specifically availed me throughout the workforce while availing me prosperity in interviews, acquire a well-paying job, and incipient skills I can utilize towards the everyday task.
I’ve always wondered why people with a little or a lot of power tend to treat you unjustly. I’ve experienced many times when people with power treated me poorly. There were times in school with teachers, in school with principles and even out in public places. When I experienced these moments they made me feel like there were something wrong with me or I was different. Also, it made me feel like I was different from others… but not in a good way.
I was the vice-president and the nursing club student council representative while in Montgomery College. I formulated and implemented some policies pertaining to the club. I developed a mentorship program for freshmen. Moreover, I set up a program of feeding the poor in the nearby shelter. I am currently the group leader of the education shared governance committee.
Remembering the Alamo through Master and Counter Narratives Introduction Throughout my education, I have learned about many historical events, heroes, and social issues within history. As I got older, I started to realize that many of my textbooks seemed to repeat the same stories. I decided to visit the Alamo museum in San Antonio, Texas, and take note of the master narratives and the counter narratives being represented in the museum about this significant event. Master Narrative
The only reason I am able to experience UT today is because of my involvement in an honor society. My devotion within my honors society gave me the opportunity to win the scholarships that have enabled me to continue my academic endeavors at UT Austin. Being an officer of ALD/PES will allow me to give back to an honors society that has given the opportunity to fulfill and continue my academic aspirations. If given the opportunity to be the service Event Coordinator, I want to incorporate the aspects of academics into service events. One way that the honor society can do this is by developing a research project around a particular service event.
I was a mentor at the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Wolf Pack Mentoring Program. In this program I was able to be a mentor to two first year Honors College students, Simonet and Samantha. This has being my most meaningful involvement in a student organization, because this was a program where I was able to make a positive impact in my peers’ life. When I started college I wished I would have had someone I could definitely count on to ask questions, study, or just talk about life as a college student, and with this program I was able to provide that to them. As a mentor I helped my mentees with choosing classes, professors, giving them advice on how to study for a test, or how to handle a service learning project.
Life can have so many challenges a person will have to endure. Some will be making it to the NBA playoffs and others will be running a marathon. For me, the biggest challenge would be the most terrified obstacle a young person would ever have; the SAT. Known for its extremely dull black and white pages and its notoriously rough questions, I was about to prove myself against its makers, The College Board. Opening my eyes, I was greeted by the bright, bright sun peeking through the curtains.
Legacy of heroes “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserve and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. " When most people think of heroes, they think about Spiderman and how he always saves the day, yes I thought that to during my childhood. Now I realize that Spiderman is only a fictional character and that only actual spiders can shoot out spider webs.
Picture this: you somehow manage to get your hands on a pair of tickets to see your absolute favorite band of all time, despite the fact that the concert was sold out long ago. You get the green light from your hesitant parents, who had never let you do anything like this before without adult supervision. As you are printing out the tickets, it occurs to you that will get the opportunity to experience the unfamiliar feeling of total freedom and control. Music has always been a definitive part of my life. My favorite band is The 1975, an English group whose music and style has always stuck out compared to other artists that I listen to.
Volunteering and participating in these events has taught me new ways of doing things in a time conserving manner. For example, in the first year of Business Information Management class, we were told to type a timed resume for Bill Gates. Only other time the term “resume” had shaken my eardrums was when my uncle said, “your participation in physics club will make your resume very strong.” As I was trying to recall that moment, my teacher passed out a sample resume so we can get an idea of what a resume looks like. Before I could even take a look at the paper, I hear a voice saying, “your time starts now!”
Over summer, I was struggling to decide what I should do for my Capstone Project. There were numerous things I could do, some of the things I was familiar with, and some of them I wasn’t. I had been looking to get a camera for a while, just because I wanted better quality pictures for when we go animal scouting, or even when I came across something I wanted to capture. When I bought my camera, I did not know anything about it.
She sat still on the literal edge of her chair, barely breathing as Dan shuffled his papers and readied himself. She wondered for a moment if he would speak at all; the seconds dragged out like hours and she felt her heartbeat quicken. But then he caught her eye - both of them wide-eyed as does in headlights - and she felt a certain warmth overcome her. I 'm right here she tried to communicate to him, and he finally began to speak. She finally took a good breath; the first one in the last few days.
Treacherous brisk winds were no comparison to the drip of cold, reminiscing in the bottom of my throat. Breathing was becoming hard, the chilling air freezing my chest, relying on my thin layers to keep me warm. My tribe kept their chins held high, even after knowing I would soon be dead. We were setting up camp for the star filled night as my men created arrowheads with the charcoal flat stones we collected throughout our expedition.
