Stemming from New Belgium’s founders Jeff Lebesch and Kim Jordan’s initial inspiration, values and beliefs, the brewery’s operations are centered on a number of key elements. Based on those core values, some of the driving forces behind the company’s operations are environmental responsibility and stewardship, a fun and high involvement culture in their workplace, producing world class beer, and promoting environmental & social change. New Belgium is a company that deeply cares about customer satisfaction, as well as the overall quality that goes into each and every bottle of beer that they produce. New Belgium is certainly a company that does not fail in that regard. New Belgium assures satisfaction, safety, and great quality when producing their products. Despite the company’s drastic growth over the last 20 years, New Belgium recognizes that “the quality of input has changed [over time], but there [will] not be changes to the quality of the products produced” (New Belgium - Information). Their two original beers, Fat Tire, and Abbey Ale are still made with the same quality and care that they were in 1995 when the company started. This is an admirable trait for a company to possess after all this time on the market, and they are showing no sign of change in this regard. As a low-contact system, quality assurance is constantly being assessed and examined to keep the product quality high and consistent. They have recently expanded their bottling line in order to increase the amount of beer available for sale. They have reached an astounding number of 700 bottles per minute, as opposed to their previous 300 per minute before their new expansion. As far as number of barrels per year is concerned, New Belgium produced nearly 765,000 barrels of beer in 2012, making them the third highest grossing craft beer company in the United States (Berte, 2013). The company is also very adamant about being energy efficient with their use of technology throughout their brewing process, as well as disposing of excess waste accordingly. “In 2010, [New Belgium] installed a 200 kW solar PV array and joined the FortZED Smart Meter program, working with the local utility to reduce peak energy demands” (Henry, 2014).
