The following paper will be a thorough review of the textbook. The New Guidebook for Pastors. The review of this book will be start in the leadership and the Pastor. Then I will proceed to breakdown the rest of the chapters that stood out and helped formulate and foster discussion in my convictions and my class. The Pastor and his leadership section was one that grabbed me right from the start, I have been a member and participated in churches and secular jobs that had failed leadership. Therefore, this section helped me to understand a more complete picture of leadership that is neserry for the role of pastior. The book did not just focus in on being a leader in the church, no what about being a leader of a country, company. These traits of leadership are universal and can apply to a lot of different jobs. The main jon and the focus of this chapter was rallying around the mandate for a Biblical leadership model. This is important, and the book gave a lot of concrete reasons why it is not merely a suggestion. The pastor is called upon to lead, shepherd and guide his flock. Therefore, the pastor must make sure that he is himself is living out a Godly example to go a long with his direction that he lays-out. This part of the book made me look at baptism and the history behind it. I am in a church history class her at BCF and this was an interesting topic. I was baptized as a infant and again as a adult. Therefore, I was a little conflicted on this a while back, but I believe that a belivers baptism is what is called for and biblical. The book helped give a snapshot history of the Anabaptist history on believer’s baptism. Which helped provide me with even more church history.
