McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is one of the world’s best training institutions in Internal Medicine. It is the cradle of an outstanding team of health care professionals, residents, and supporting staff. McGill has consistently proven to be a leader in founding new grounds to develop and improve the future of health care through education and research. It gives me great joy to apply to such a distinguished program, a program with a history of significant contributions to the medical field.

McGill holds a special place in my heart. Being in the city of where I grew up as a child, gives it this sentimental value to me. . My journey towards medicine has been a series of events that have transformed my way of thinking and interacting in the world. The idea of becoming a doctor began when my sister was born in Montreal with a complex congenital heart disease. Ever since her first operation, I have been mystified by the remarkable work that occurs at each level inside our hospitals. Leaving home at such a young age was by no means easy, but I learned to become adaptable, and stayed in Kuwait until finishing medical school. During my medical school training, I volunteered for a humanitarian mission in Kenya. I felt drawn towards this endeavour because of the extreme suffering in the Kenyan community. I also took electives in fields of Internal Medicine at McGill and Harvard. At McGill, I reconnected with my childhood; I was welcomed, taught, and made good friends. The educational environment was safe and productive, and the staff were very competent and aware of the CanMeds objectives. To further enhance my educational experience, I reached out to doctors for research, which lead me to where I currently work with Dr. Daskalopoulous in the vascular research
