I don't know if you remember me or not, Vanessa Lagana, from your tenth grade class. I know it's been a long time, like 30 years since that class, but lately I've been thinking about that memoir we read, Night, and it has me thinking about women's rights, and how badly they were treated during the holocaust. I've become a supporter recently of an organization called the Madre Organization and have been working with them. It's a great organization that helps women all over the world receive the help and support they need. To introduce you to the issue and organization I've wrote to you about the statistics and ways we help women around the world and how you could be a big part in helping women all around the world. We provide all the necessities and support that these survivors need. For the girls and young women survivors of Columbia we help them through art therapy and creative performances. We use dance, music, theater, etc to help them break their silence and stigma that many of them feel. We help them know that they are not alone and help them open up to us and allow us to help them fight against what they went through and experienced. As far as their human rights go, what we do is we get as many survivors of violence to open up and tell their stories and bring them forward to leaders to fight against the issue and act upon it. We also make an international campaign where young women talk about what they've experienced and help other survivors feel more comfortable with opening up about what they went through and help them through the process of recovering. The results of all this is we help these survivors recover, help them gain the rights that they deserve so no other women have to experience what they went through again. In Iraq we have created an underground railroad to help women escape from whatever they are experiencing. We have made a safe place for women where we provide shelter and all the necessities for women. We provide food, support, care and shelter to all women. For counseling we've created a rape crisis center for survivors. Here they can learn how to write, read, and learn skills in order for them to get a job. …show more content…
There are probably many reasons as to why you wouldn't be so fond to donating a big portion of money to this, such as the issue this organization supports is more based on for other countries and more prominent there, and it doesn't effect your country as much, or you even might feel that your contribution isn't enough to solve the issue, and maybe you want to save money for your family and friends in the future. These are valid reasons, but they aren't valid enough to ultimately refuse to donate. Although the issue isn't as big of a problem in your country it doesn't mean you shouldn't donate to the cause/organization- we are interdependent and need to help each other. Also, you aren't the first person to think that their contribution wouldn't be enough to make a real change throughout the world, that isn't the case every donation and penny counts and goes toward making a big change in someone's life. Lastly, I totally understand and it's definitely not an issue if you want to save money for the future to help out your family, but even a small donation can make a
