Nikola Tesla One of the greatest minds of the twentieth century died living in poverty and was forgotten by society. Nikola Tesla helped bring the human race into the 20th century with his inventions in the electrical field of study. He left his mark on history with his unusual way of thinking, brilliant inventions, and his unforgettable neglect in the field of science. The way he was able to create devices to form electricity is remarkable. Tesla had an uncanny ability to imagine his inventions before he had actually created them. He hardly ever produced a prototype because the models in his head had always been perfect and ready to be made into final products. Instead what Tesla did was patent the idea and then collect the royalties from the people using his patent. In total, Tesla holds over one-hundred and ten United States patents and around three-hundred patents worldwide. One issue that greatly limited Tesla’s progress was his limited monetary factor. Tesla had began taking in many pigeons and caring for them, but one to which he had became particularly attached, describing it as a beautiful, pure white bird with gray tipped wings. One night the bird flew into his room and Tesla said that the bird had been attempting to tell him she was dying, saying a light had came from her eyes more intense than he had ever produced by the most powerful lamps in his laboratory. That night, the bird died and Tesla stated that something went out of his life and knew his life’s work was finished.
