Hadley DeCook 502 S. 5th St. Eldridge, IA 52748 May 15, 2023 Scott County Courthouse 400 W. 4th St. Davenport, IA 52801 Dear Jury Members: Mr. Bennett was just enjoying his night at a party while having drinks with his friends and dancing. However no one could have predicted how much the night took a turn. Instead of partying he was accused and arrested for the murder of Mr. Adams in which he didn’t commit. Mr. Bennett should be found not guilty of murder because there is reasonable doubt. Although the prosecution claims he is guilty they are wrong because Mr. Alfaro is a exterminator who was seen around Mr. Adams drink, Mr. Mack had a motive to kill, and Mrs. Reid was a close relative and believed she would inherit his wealth. The strongest reason in this case is that Mr. Alfaro is an exterminator who deals with rat poison and was seen pouring Mr. Adams a drink 5 minutes before he died. It was noted that the rat poison found in Mr. Adams drink was only accessible for exterminators and Mr. Alfaro was an exterminator. Reid was Mr. Adams closest relative and she believed she would inherit his wealth because of this. Mrs. Reid wanted his wealth when he died, that is also a motive for her to kill him so he would die earlier and she would get his wealth. She also brought Mr. Alfaro to the party and Mr. Mack said they were seen whispering together all evening. They could be working together. She also invited him because she stated it would be nice for him to meet new people. Suspicious. There are no eye witnesses that saw Mr. Bennett anywhere near him and there are eye witnesses for Mrs. Reid and Mr. Alfaro. Had Mr. Bennett committed this crime someone must have seen him doing something suspicious. Why else would she randomly bring someone to a party that she didn’t throw other than to inherit some money from a dead
