Did you know that the beating of a butterfly’s wing could cause a tornado in another part of the word? If something so insignificant as a butterfly could cause such a great effect, what nuclear bombs could do is unimaginable. The United States started a chain reaction with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Due to the nuclear bomb, Japan was forced to forfeit, and millions of lives were saved. A plethora of people argue that if these bombs had not been used, not much would have changed. However, some others disagree with that theory due to the fact that it set a precedent. However, in war there are always casualties. The detonation of the bombs were astute ideas, but they were very risky. If Japan had not been bombarded, it is estimated that the death toll would have reached the millions. This is due to the fact that Japan was viciously ready to kill, and the United States was eager to invade the Japanese nation. The invasion of Japan would have been the most probable option for the United States if the atomic bombs were not detonated. This would have had a catastrophic effect on Japan, and it could have greatly damaged the economy. If Japan was invaded it’s economy would be substandard, it would not have flourished the way it did. Currently, Japan has one of the most prosperous economies. Japan also has a huge influence on the global market, and is a trading partner of the United States. While Japan won prestige by being bombarded, the United States would have lost prestige. If the United Stated had chosen not to bomb Japan, the Soviet Union would have. This would have increased the Soviet Union worldly influence, and it would have flaunted their power. The Soviet Union could have still been active, and would have still struggled with the United States.
