Personal Statement
The love of teaching blossomed in me at a very young age. In elementary school, I never hesitated to offer my assistance to my teacher with daily classroom tasks. While over the summer, most children would be outside playing and enjoying their time away from school. I could be found inside taking attendance of my imaginary students and printing assignments for them to complete. As I grew older I found a passion for food in all aspects. From cooking the food and making it look appealing to the eyes all the way to the nutritional value that food can provide to the body. My passion for food and nutrition drove me to attend Johnson and Wales University and receive my degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. After working years in the hospitality industry, the opportunity presented itself to be able to combine my childhood dream of becoming a teacher with my newfound passion for food and nutrition.

That date will always be memorable to me as the day that one of my career goals was accomplished. The job came with a lot more responsibilities than I anticipated but I enjoyed every day of it. One responsibility that I had to fulfill was altering all of my assignments for my 7 OCS students. On a daily basis, I had to create 7 different assignments to accommodate the students who needed them as well as composing assignments for the rest of my students. While conversing with some experienced teachers they were surprised that a new teacher was given 7 students in one class with learning disabilities. I remember them saying that “it would be very challenging for an experienced teacher to have that type of responsibility let alone for a new teacher”. However, I didn't see it as a challenge. I viewed it as an opportunity to expand the minds of young adults so that they can comprehend skills that are beneficial to know outside of
