I knew I wanted to be a dietitian when I was 16 and years old. My mother had health problems due to anemia, needed a blood transfusion and was told that she needed to make diet and lifestyle changes to improve her health. Many of her issues were resolved by a healthy diet, increasing exercise, and losing weight. The ending result not only improved my mother’s health but my own health as well. That is when I knew that nutrition and health was my calling. After successfully completing my coordinated dietetics program at Eastern Michigan University I went on to become a registered dietitian at a community hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
