Now the anticipation was centered around the trial. At the time it was being referred to as “The Trial of the Century”. Sarah remembers it becoming a big subject of debate not only in the news, but also in her everyday life. Everyone wanted to know what the outcome of the trial would be. People were no longer interested in the glitz and glam of Hollywood, they were interested in the murders and conspiracies. Eventually October 5, 1995 rolled around. The courtroom filled with anxiety and tension as the trial commenced. Palms grew sweaty and hearts began to race. Simpson was arrested once again, however, this time it was not for murder. He was arrested on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. In 2007 O.J. Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas because he stole from a man by the name of Bruce Fromong. According to Simpson, he was only there to get back some of his belongings. He was promised that there were pictures of his first wife and kids and other personal memorabilia. He gathered up a group of people to be his accomplices and headed up to a hotel room where his personal belongings were apparently being kept. One of the accomplices recalls in an interview, “ When we got to the door, Mr. Simpson asked me to show my gun and look menacing” (Muir). He remembers thinking the whole situation was getting out of hand, “The minute I pulled the gun out, I'm like, man, this is a robbery, you know, this is gonna be on national news. In early 2018 the interview was aired and sent shock waves across the nation. Sarah, now 42, sat in her living room with her family taking in every word that O.J. said. The interviewer didn’t waste much time, she wanted to get right into the night of the murders. She knew what the viewers would want to hear. She started with the domestic abuse and then made the jump into the night of the murders. It was a raw and emotional moment as Simpson laid out the hypothetical events of the night, “While I was there a guy shows up,” he is referring here to one of the victims, Ronald Goldman. “We get into a verbal fight and Nicole comes out. As things got heated I remember Nicole fell and hurt herself and the guy got into a karate thing and I said ‘well you think you can kick my ass?’ I remember I grabbed the knife from charlie.” Simpson’s body language shifts suddenly as he continues to talk about the night in question. It was as if someone flipped a switch. His arrogance shut off and at that moment it he had remorse. It was a pivotal moment as the story switches from hypothetical scenarios to a true recollection of events. O.J. becomes slightly emotional as he continues his story.
