Imagine not being able to feel secure because of how others judge based off of being overweight. There are many young people who struggle with being physically healthy and end up being mentally unstable because of it. Numerous young adults have hard times maintaining a balanced diet and exercise on a regular bases. This is the generation that could change the problems that are present, in the future. There should be more activities that upcoming adults could join so that the obesity rate decreases. Advertising plays a big role in this generation and its for the wrong type of food. As a matter of fact, it is hard to stay in shape when there are many different fast food places around and that's all this generation is looking towards. Most students in either high school or college eat fast food because it is cheaper and less time consuming than buying fresh food from the grocery stores. Most young men and women rather do the least amount of exercise and pay for food that's quick and easy to receive because it's less work and doesn't waste as much energy. In Attacking the obesity epidemic by first figuring out its cause, steven L.gortmaker mentions, “women were spending a lot less time on food preparation, but the industry figured out ways to make food more readily available for everybody” (12). What could be changed is that there should be legit pe instructors that students would respect and be interested to learn how to eat right and would want to exercise. A variety of students are depressed about how they look because they are insecure but schools could make an after school program for those insecure students that could go and be trained by an expert trainer and all lose weight together, similar to the television show biggest loser. On top of that, schools should add more intramural sports to get more people involved and stay active. Sports can create people to bond, stay in shape and stay busy which is what many young adults need in order to grow mentally and physically. An extreme amount of students does not play sports or exercise daily and sports could cause more to stay physically
